The Driving Energy 2024 Award - Contemporary Photography, created by Terna, has set a new record for entries, with a 20% increase compared to the previous edition: over 3,300 photographers of all ages from all Italian regions.

The theme proposed in this edition is The Path of the Invisible. Photographers were invited to interpret the different forms of invisible energy that, however, produce visible effects: a way to celebrate, on one hand, the talent and uniqueness of the artist, who is able to see realities that many do not exist, or do not yet exist, and on the other hand, Terna's commitment to make its electrical infrastructures increasingly "invisible" and sustainable.

The high participation in the Award confirms the Group's objective of creating a cultural project that is increasingly broad and representative of the Italian territory.

For the first time, participants exceeded the three thousand threshold, reaching 3,337: photographers of all generations from the 107 provinces of the country registered, with no significant variations in gender distribution (55% male and 44% female).

Furthermore, thanks to the established synergy with the academic world, initiated in the 2023 edition with the introduction of the Academy Mention, student participation has tripled, increasing from 4% to 13% of the total entries.

The Award Jury has selected the 40 finalist works, including the five winners, based on criteria of quality and adherence to this year's theme. The five winners will be announced and awarded on September 24, the opening day of the exhibition at Palazzo Esposizioni Roma, which will remain open to the public free of charge until October 12.
