Poetry for Revolutions. A Group Show with Manifestos and Proposing Graf & Selina Grüter, MigrArt/DACZ (Deniz Damla Uz & Niştiman Erdede), Ramaya Tegegne, RM, Sandra Mujinga, Shirana Shahbazi and Ursula Biemann.

Posters played a crucial role as a stylistic tool in historical avant-gardes such as Futurism and Dada. They were used to express beliefs and criticisms in a tangible and manifest way, as suggested by the word of Latin origin 'manifestus'. Rather than preserving appearances, art aimed to reveal, act upon, and transform the world and human experience. In the Poetry for Revolutions exhibition, contemporary artists and writers respond with their unique artistic languages to complex global crises or reflect on the culture of sharing and expressing ideas. They do so at a time when posters and monuments are often considered outdated, while current events require direct involvement, asking to remember the past and challenge the status quo. Art goes beyond a one-dimensional reflection of reality, but engages with it by condensing, isolating, differentiating, confusing and disarticulating, through poetic, radical, subtle or concrete means. This raises questions about the role of the poster and the extent to which art shapes people politically or generates a pseudo-political space.

Numerous artists and writers create posters in the form of texts or visual works, to be exhibited in Rome and Zurich. In both exhibition spaces, photocopies of the posters will be available that the public can take with them and share. Ceylan Öztrük choreographs the exhibitions through a large sculptural intervention and a display for photocopied posters, focusing on how information formally circulates and who feels empowered to share what knowledge. In Rome, some artists contribute additional works. Furthermore, two showcases offer a specific historical insight into the feminist movement in Italy in the Sixties and Seventies, with posters and documents by the artist Anna Oberto, the Neapolitan collective Le Nemesiache and Rivolta Femminile. The exhibition is completed by a program of collateral events .
