From 14 November 2023 to 14 January 2024 the Boncompagni Ludovisi Museum directed by Matilde Amaturo and belonging to the State Museums Directorate of the city of Rome, directed by Massimo Osanna will host the exhibition FIFTIES IN ROME. The couture of the 50s (RMX), curated by Stefano Dominella, honorary president of the Gattinoni maison, in collaboration with the Accademia del Lussoente italiano of high education specialized in the preparation of creative and managerial profiles for the fashion and design sectors.

The exhibition-performance Fifties in Rome tells the story of the revolution in style, retracing the unrepeatable period of the 1950s, fundamental for the history of Made in Italy, through a refined selection of clothes (some never exhibited before). from the personal historical archive of Stefano Dominella, curator of the exhibition, from the fashion collections of the Boncompagni Ludovisi Museum and from important private historical archives. The rooms and furnishings of the Museum's early twentieth century Roman eclectic taste become the location for the setting of an evocative 1950s exhibition accompanied by some clothes taken from the museum's historical archive.

The fashion of the 1950s influenced all subsequent decades. After the Second World War, a decade of great optimism, economic development and widespread well-being began in Italy, which was reflected in a real revolution in style.

The exhibition project involved high schools in the city of Rome and its province and made use of the collaboration of students who were invited to create sketches inspired by the 1950s. A commission of selected experts will award the most talented student free enrollment in one of the courses at the Accademia del Lusso in Rome. The Accademia del Lusso transmits to its students the fundamental values of Made in Italy through the valorization and rediscovery of history, where tradition meets innovation.
