From 17 September to 19 January 2025
From September 17th, Arthemisia and Palazzo Bonaparte in Rome dedicate the largest exhibition ever held in Italy to Fernando Botero, one of the most important artists of the 20th century, beloved by the general public and author of iconic works.
Through the display of over 120 masterpieces, the exhibition exceptionally narrates Botero's great mastery in various artistic techniques, from painting to sculpture, while at the same time retracing his entire artistic journey, an exuberant and magical universe.
Among the exhibited works, there will also be exceptional unpublished pieces, exhibited for the first time in the world, such as the Menina (After Velazquez) and Homage to Mantegna, which were believed to be lost.
With the first and most comprehensive painting exhibition ever held in Italy one year after his passing, Palazzo Bonaparte in Rome wants to pay tribute to one of the most beloved artists by the international public, Fernando Botero.
The exhibition, which covers over 60 years of artistic career, is curated by Lina Botero, the artist's daughter, and Cristina Carrillo de Albornoz, a great expert on his work.
Over 120 works including paintings, watercolors, sanguines, charcoals, sculptures, and some extraordinary unpublished pieces, exceptionally loaned only for this exhibition, will be displayed in the prestigious halls of Palazzo Bonaparte.
