From 11 December to 22 March 2026
From December 11, 2025, the MACRO - Museum of Contemporary Art in Rome will once again welcome the public with an exhibition season entirely dedicated to the Eternal City, its artistic scene, and the creative energies that animate it.
The program, promoted by the Department of Culture of Rome Capital and the Special Company Palaexpo, produced and organized by the Special Company Palaexpo, is conceived by the artistic director Cristiana Perrella, who inaugurates her vision of a comprehensive, lively, and receptive museum, in which the exhibition schedule is accompanied by a daily proposal capable of making it an open and culturally vital place.
Finally, Inhabiting the ruins of the present, curated by Giulia Fiocca and Lorenzo Romito (Stalker), visible from December 11, 2025 to March 22, 2026, reflects on what it means to inhabit today, analyzing the social housing policies of Rome. The exhibition unfolds in the spaces of MACRO part of the project presented at the Austrian Pavilion of the 2025 Architecture Biennale - Agency for Better Living - a laboratory that compared the experiences of the cities of Rome and Vienna on possible forms of living in the current context of environmental and social crisis. Inhabiting the ruins of the present starts from the assumption that the Capital has managed over time to renew itself thanks to cyclical processes of regeneration often born from the bottom up. The exhibition presents spontaneous reuse practices, spaces characterized by diversity and resilience capable of generating strategies for social and ecological adaptation.
