Trajan's Markets

The Trajan's Markets are an archaeological complex with absolutely unique characteristics in Rome and we can say in the world; in fact, they represent a "district" that has experienced the evolution of the city from the imperial age to the present day, constantly reused and transformed: from a strategic administrative center of the imperial forums, to a noble residence, a military fortress, a prestigious seat of a convent, barracks in a continuous evolution, which can be felt in the architectural transformations and in the signs of the different "hands" that in different eras have adapted the complex to the various functions, to reach us and start a new "season" of life. Housed in the Trajan's Markets, the Museo dei Fori Imperiali in Rome is both an archaeological museum and an exceptional Roman historical site and is part of the system of Musei in Comune, the civic museums of Rome Capital. The Museum illustrates the ancient architecture of the Imperial Forums and their architectural and sculptural decoration. Temporary exhibitions are periodically set up.
