The Orkla Industrial Museum, located at Torfinn Bjørnaas’ plass 2 in Løkken Verk (Orkland municipality, Trøndelag), celebrates 333 years of mining activity in the historic community of Løkken Verk, the heart of the modern Orkla Group.
The museum is structured around three main attractions. The Old Mine, with guided tours in the old galleries and the Fagerli Hall, a striking underground chamber 15 m high also used for concerts and performances. The Thamshavn Line, the world's first AC electric railway still operating on its original track, offers scenic vintage train rides along a 22 km route to the port of Orkanger during the summer season.
The exhibitions cover the entire history of production: from copper and sulfur in the 17th century to the industrial-scale extraction in the 20th century of copper pyroxides, zinc, silver with electric subsidies and strategic infrastructure designed by Christian Thams. There are models, photographs, original documents, and the luxurious "King's Car," Thams' private carriage, a testament to the modern and international dimension of mining activities.
