From 6 April to 14 July 2019
"Happy is the man who is born after death", confided Antonio Fontanesi to one of his pupils. And the exhibition " Antonio Fontanesi and his legacy. From Pellizza da Volpedo to Burri" that Reggio Emilia proposes from 6 April to 14 July at the Palazzo dei Musei, two hundred years after the artist's birth, is a bit the story of a artistic "resurrection".
The curators of the exhibition, in fact, have set themselves the goal of guiding the public to the rediscovery of this protagonist of Italian and European nineteenth-century painting and to document Antonio Fontanesi 's fortune after his death: the influence that his painting has he had in the artists who after him recognized themselves in his particular approach to nature and the landscape, but also the suggestive "handed down" of the romantic experience that the critics wanted to find in the art of the fifties.
