The Prague Castle is a fortified complex dating back to the 9th century located in the Czech capital, until the end of the First World War the official residence of the Kings of Bohemia, while from 1918 the official residence of the head of the Czechoslovak state, and since 1993 of the President of the Czech Republic.
The Prague Castle stands on one of the nine hills on which the Czech capital develops. It was the first inhabited nucleus of the city. With an area of almost 70,000 square meters, it is the largest single-body castle in the world. The surrounding area of the castle is called Hradčany, or the Castle district.
