The Museu Guerra Junqueiro is a house-museum located in the heart of the historic center of Porto, a few steps from the Cathedral. It houses the personal collection of the Portuguese poet and writer Guerra Junqueiro (1850–1923), known for his civic engagement and literary works. The building, constructed between 1730 and 1746 in Baroque style, was commissioned by Domingos Barbosa, a canon of the Porto Cathedral. In 1934, Guerra Junqueiro's daughter acquired the property and in 1940 donated it to the Municipality of Porto along with her father's collection, officially inaugurating the museum in 1942. Over the years, the building has undergone restoration and enhancement interventions, the latest of which took place in 2017.
