The Musée Sainte-Croix in Poitiers is a museum dedicated to the history and archeology of the historical province of Poitou, from prehistoric times to the present day. Inaugurated in 1974, the museum is housed in a building built in the style of the current of brutalism. Within the rich archaeological collection, it is worth mentioning some works, such as the monumental statue of Athena from the Roman era (copy of the Greek original), discovered in Poitiers in 1901; the fragments of the portal of the church of Saint-hilaire-le-Grand. There are also numerous paintings and decorative art objects made by artists and artisans from the Poitou area. The museum also preserves a rich collection of works by the French sculptress Camille Claudel.
