The Museum of Palazzo Pretorio is located in the center of the small town of Peccioli, near Pisa. The Museum was born from the desire of the Municipality of Peccioli to create a museum capable of communicating with the community. For this reason, the Museum was born inside the Palazzo Pretorio of medieval origin and houses a rich collection of contemporary art. The Museum houses a total of about 200 works on display, which are expanded with purchases and donations of works. Among the most important works are Nagasawa's “Descending Column”, Vittorio Messina's “Acropolis”, Vittorio Corsini's “Fonte” and “Chiacchiere” installations and finally the “Guests” by Fortuyn / O'Brien. The Museum has been enriched by the Collection of Engravings and Lithographs from the Vito Merlini Donation. The Collection includes more than 279 engravings, woodcuts, serigraphs and lithographs that Vito Merlini donated to the Municipality. The collection consists of engravings by painters and sculptors who have dedicated themselves to this technique including: Guttuso, Carrà, Carla Accardi, Fattori, Marino Marini, Mirò, De Chirico, Vittorini and many others.
