From 19 September to 11 January 2026
From September 19, 2025 to January 11, 2026, the Civic Museums of the Visconteo Castle will host the exhibition Pavia 1525: the arts in the Renaissance and the tapestries of the battle, organized as part of the celebrations for the 500 years since the Battle of Pavia.
On display, exceptionally, are the seven spectacular tapestries from the Capodimonte Museum in Naples depicting the Battle of Pavia: an extraordinary loan to give back to the city the visual narrative of the event that marked its history, immortalized with extraordinary pictorial sensitivity by the Flemish school of Bernard van Orley.
The exhibition offers an immersive journey through works by Leonardo da Vinci, Pietro Perugino, Ambrogio Bergognone, and other central figures of the Renaissance, with loans from some of the most important Italian and international museum institutions. Visitors will be able to admire paintings, drawings, sculptures, illuminated manuscripts, decorative art objects, and a magnificent 16th-century wooden choir from the church of San Marino, specially restored.
A unique opportunity to rediscover Pavia as a crossroads of art, politics, and culture, in a continuous dialogue between historical memory and artistic beauty.
