Opening to the public on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Palazzo Sant’Elia is the exhibition “Journey in Italy (2005–2025)” by Gonzalo Orquín, the result of the residency project recently carried out by the Spanish artist in the spaces of the Sant’Elia Foundation.
The exhibition, promoted and supported by the Sant'Elia Foundation with the sponsorship of the Metropolitan City of Palermo, is part of the international residency program designed to promote dialogue between foreign artists and the territory, while supporting contemporary production.
On display are 25 works that narrate twenty years of pictorial research, many of which come from private collections and are therefore rarely seen, alongside a selection of unpublished works created during the recent stay in Palermo.
“Journey in Italy” is an intimate pictorial diary, where each canvas holds fragments of memory, reflections on the human condition, and exercises in emotional resilience. With a style that intertwines classicism and contemporaneity, Orquín constructs a narrative in balance between biography and history, between real places and inner images.
