The Holmenkollen Ski Museum, located at the base of the famous Holmenkollbakken ski jump in the Holmenkollen National Arena, is the oldest ski museum in the world, founded in 1923 and moved to its current structure in 1951. Managed by Skiforeningen, it houses about 4,000 years of ski history.
The collection includes spectacular artifacts: rock carvings from the Stone Age, skis from the Viking era, historical models, and the original equipment used by polar explorers Fridtjof Nansen and Roald Amundsen. Over 2,500 pairs of skis are displayed among manuscripts, photographs, and props, telling the technical and social evolution of the discipline in Norway and around the world.
Ideal for families, sports enthusiasts, and history buffs, the museum also offers a children's play area called Blåkollen, inspired by the world of Nordic fairy tales, with caves, slides, and interactive spaces. Inside, there is also a ski jumping simulator, a souvenir shop, and a cafeteria.
