The Historischer Kunstbunker is a historical bunker museum in Nuremberg. These are several tunnels of medieval construction that wind through the basement of the imperial castle of the city of Nuremberg. During the Middle Ages, the tunnels were used as cellars for the storage and storage of wine and beer. Since 1939, several of these passages have been used to protect Nuremberg's artwork from World War II aerial bombardments. Reaching up to 24 meters deep, the tunnels were equipped with a sophisticated drainage, heating and ventilation system that guaranteed the optimal conservation of the artistic works. Thanks to the bunker it has been possible to preserve famous attractions of the city, such as the angelic salute of Veit Stoss from the Lorenz church, the imperial insignia or the "Männleinlauf" from the Frauenkirche. Audiovisual documentation with original photographs and sound recordings recalls the bombings of the Second World War, in which medieval Nuremberg was destroyed and the reconstruction of the city after the war.
