More information about the exhibitionThe exhibition Bauen und Töten retraces some of the most significant stages of Gregor Schneider's career, one of the most important artists of his generation on the international scene. Starting from the early performative and photographic works to the most recent pieces, Bauen und Töten traces a path around the artist's legendary Gesamtkunstwerk, the Haus u r in Rheydt, Germany - started in 1985 and still evolving - exploring the boundary between the possibility and impossibility of artistic representation and the tension between collective and personal memory, recurring elements in Schneider's practice.
