The exhibition 'Almost Home - The Rosa Parks House Project' by the American artist Ryan Mendoza, a physical and symbolic space for reflection on the theme of human rights still denied today, is set up in the Cortile d'Onore, where the house of Detroit by Rosa Parks, an icon of the struggles for civil rights of African Americans.
The small wooden building, painted in black and white, was donated by Rosa Parks' granddaughter to the American artist Ryan Mendoza to save it from demolition; the Royal Palace of Naples is the first institutional place to welcome it and make it “Almost home”, almost home, in the hope that one day, properly welcomed, it will return to Detroit.
The exhibition stems from a project by the artist Mendoza, supported by the Campania Region and the Morra Greco Foundation, in collaboration with the Royal Palace of Naples and the Campania Museums Regional Directorate, to promote culture as a tool for social inclusion.
