The dell'Eremo remains refer to a boundary wall and two towers, one square and the other round shape. Originally the architecture included a large monastic complex of the first hermits of the Augustinian order. In the complex there developed the medieval cloister. Between the late thirteenth and early fourteenth century was renovated and enlarged the entire complex with the construction of a Romanesque church and a new Gothic church. Between 1360 and 1370, he was painted the choir of the church by the Sienese painter Lippo Vanni. The fresco decorations tell the story of the Virgin. On the ground floor there was a refectory with frescoes attributed to John Paul, depicting the Crucifixion.
