The Davide Vignali Award was established in 2011 by Marisa and Doriano Vignali, in response to the tragic and premature loss of their son.Promoted by the Vignali family, the AGO Foundation, and the A. Venturi Higher Education Institute, it is aimed at the fifth-grade classes of all secondary schools in the Emilia-Romagna region. In 14 years of activity, it has involved 1,364 boys and girls, supporting not only the development of artistic research related to contemporary imagery, but also the growth of a wide network of exchange between schools, students, and teachers. The exhibition presents the winners of the 2024-2025 edition of the Award, along with ten of the best works selected from over 140 applications received.

"I see you", the title of the exhibition, is a statement of intent: it means giving visibility to young people and their visions, but also recognizing the strength of their gaze on contemporary reality. Each work is an encounter between the viewer and the one who shows, between the intimacy of a personal story and the public space of sharing.

The exhibition path is indeed a journey through intimate and profound thoughts, fears, doubts, affections, and dreams of boys and girls who are trying to assert their own identity, not without difficulties, and who have courageously entrusted their voice to images, revealing authentic fragments of themselves and seeking a dialogue with the viewer.

The First Prize was won by Rebecca Sollazzo, with the video "Upside-down Retry", which tells in a direct yet universal way, the feeling of inadequacy after continuous failed attempts to achieve a goal, but also the commitment and strength to keep trying. Sofia Pasquali Second Prize with the photographic project "The Echo of Silence", gives shape to the pain and silence caused by the separation of parents.

"The Noise of the Mind" by Ilaria Finotelli won the Third Prizewith a series of photographs depicting the crowding of inner thoughts that make it difficult to even perform a small gesture. Samanta Faye Biccay Timbreza won the Venturi Prizewith the work "Obsessive Blue," a visual investigation into obsession, often romanticized and dangerously mistaken for love. The jury also gave a special mention to the works of Matteo Battistuzzi and the 5AG classof IPSAS Aldovrandi Rubbiani in Bologna.
