Until 5 June 2022, the Adventures of Aldo takes place at the Figurine Museum and in the upper rooms of Palazzo Santa Margherita . Archives as a connection of times, the exhibition by Aldo Spoldi curated by Francesca Zanella . The exhibition was born as part of a project in collaboration with the Enzo Ferrari Engineering Department of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia , and proposes a new way of interpreting the archive starting from that of the Figurine Museum , alongside production and research of the Cremasco artist, to the method of reading and research of the art historian.

Starting from an analysis of Spoldi's path and focusing on his particularly significant works and projects, the curator and the artist together examined the Archive - that of the Museum and that of Spoldi - to create an exhibition based on comparison between the two systems: the imagery of the stickers and the artist's vision . Spoldi's production is characterized by the strongly theoretical nature of his work, by the connection between words and images and by the narrative and performative language: he has always composed his works by treating the surface (from the wooden board to the wall) as the space of action. of his characters and alter egos.

He draws from his personal archive to generate new works (The policeman and the 3D translation of the virtual characters Angelo Bortolon, the Eater of Worlds and Cristina Show ...), staging new narratives, in which some constants of the artist's reflection (the stratification of time, play, the economic dimension of art) are reactivated, taking on further meanings, creating new worlds. This mode of action and vision of the artist is thus intertwined with the many stories that can be composed with the figurines: the history of explorations, industrial innovation and the history of work, the world of goods and the city, the game, fairy tale, novel and museum, masks and uniforms, coins and stamps. Even the stickers represent narrative devices born to convey messages through their recomposition within albums, through collection and exchange, generating games and competitions over time.

The adventures of Aldo. Archives as a connection of times are, for this reason, the result of the encounter between the artist and the researcher, between the artist and the visitor called to contribute, to reflect and to play, even in the didactic laboratories that will accompany the development of the exhibition. .
