The Cabinet of Drawings

The Civic Cabinet of Drawings of the Sforzesco Castle has been located since 1972 in a building designed by the Albini-Helg-Piva studio, overlooking the courtyard of the Piazza d'Armi in Milan.

Among the major public collections of ancient drawings in Italy, the Cabinet of Drawings preserves about 28,000 graphic works between the fourteenth and twentieth centuries: design drawings and autonomous exercises of Italian and foreign schools made in the most varied technical and thematic typologies of figurative drawing , architectural and ornate.

The Drawings Department is accessible only by appointment for researchers, scholars, students, users. However, the material is largely digitized and can be consulted at http://www.comune.milano.it/graficheincomune
