What remains of the image of a place when the veneer of mass tourism crumbles? What face does nature take on when we look at it without the rush of selfies and souvenirs? Gianmarco Taietti, with his new solo exhibition, invites us to reflect on these questions, leading us on a visual journey that dissolves stereotypes and restores to man and landscape the dignity of silence and dissonance. The exhibition, which will be part of the Foto Vogue Festival as a collateral event, fits this year's theme Re-imagining the Future, exploring the role of photography in interpreting and documenting a world in constant evolution. 23 shots, strictly in black and white, find a home in the central hall of the Luciana Matalon Foundation from February 28 to March 29. Not a simple reportage, but a skillful montage in which each image is an autonomous, dissonant voice that nevertheless dialogues with the others to compose a layered and complex narrative. 7 sovereign countries, 7 fragments of a journey that crosses the most remote Sardinia and the rugged Aosta Valley, slides through the historical wounds of Sarajevo and Mostar, explores the ancestral folklore of Maramureş in Romania, gets lost in the contrasts of Bangkok and the hidden corners of Krabi, traverses the layered frenzy of Istanbul and finally lands in the calm of Bali and the forests of Sarawak in Malaysia. Taietti is not looking for postcard beauty, but the truth of the moment. He captures details that escape the distracted eye: a fading water reflection, a face marked by time, a landscape that resists despite modernity.
