From November 20, 2025, to August 31, 2026, M9 - Museum of the 20th Century hosts the first major exhibition ever held in Italy dedicated to Sandro Pertini, the most beloved President of our Republic.

The exhibition is born in a year of significant anniversaries: the 80th anniversary of the Resistance, the 130th anniversary of Pertini's birth, and the referendum that inaugurates the Republic. An unrepeatable opportunity to tell the story of a man who lived through the 20th century and embodied the values of freedom, justice, and democracy.

The exhibition path will develop starting from Pertini's extraordinary private collection, now kept at the Museum of Savona: paintings, sculptures, and works that the President chose as a mirror of his ethical and civil vision of art. In dialogue with these masterpieces, archival materials, photographs, letters, vintage films, and unpublished documents, preserved at the Historical Studies Foundation "Filippo Turati" in Florence and various Italian institutions - including the National Museum Collection Salce in Treviso and the Sandro Pertini House Museum in Stella - will bring back to life the crucial moments of his life and Italian history.

Between realism and abstraction, these works reflect Pertini's free and attentive gaze to the present, capable of capturing the tensions of artistic research. The exhibition is a tribute to the values of freedom, Resistance, and human dignity, and invites reflection on the power of art as a tool for democracy and shared memory.
