The Musée des civilizations de l'Europe et de la Méditerranée (Museum of the civilizations of Europe and the Mediterranean) is a museum in Marseille. It is an anthropology museum dedicated to the study, conservation and mediation of the anthropological heritage of the European and Mediterranean area. The museum's objective is to create a place for meeting and exchange in which to understand the world and the society in which we live, thanks also to temporary exhibitions, the starting point for debates on major social issues. The Museum promotes ethnographic investigation programs on European and Mediterranean territories, also - at times - with regional, national or international research institutions. The permanent collection of the museum consists of documents and objects, both tangible and intangible: testimonies and facts of society. The real objects are always linked to precise documentation, whether they are films, photographs, interviews and archives, which allow us to trace the history, production and consumption techniques, uses and customs of the various civilizations. The museum won the "European Museum of the Year" award in 2015.
