An unprecedented exhibition in the hometown of Giacomo Puccini to celebrate his Genius one hundred years after his death. For the first time on display, the relationship between Giacomo Puccini and the advertising poster: over 100 original posters tell the life of Puccini and the history of Italy. From the historical posters of the Salce Collection in Treviso to contemporary ones, fundamental works of European advertising graphics will be exhibited. The first section of the exhibition presents the original posters dedicated to the works of Giacomo Puccini, from the historical ones of the Salce Collection in Treviso to the contemporary elaborations by Riccardo Guasco. The viewer will immediately have a sequence - whose frames are made up of billboards - of the Maestro's operatic journey. The section will also allow you to delve into the history of the lyrical poster and its evolution, where Puccini plays a central role through his works. The second section of the exhibition focuses on the authors of the posters of Puccini's works. A selection of works by these artists is presented, which allows for an expanded view both on the particular production and on the history of the poster in general. The works created in service of Puccini's scores (included in Act I) are thus contextualized within the artistic path of the individual author. This production is in turn inserted into the larger flow of the advertising poster story, allowing for an in-depth analysis of stylistic choices and representing - in light of the importance of the authors involved - a significant page in the history of poster art. The third section of the exhibition tells the personal relationship of Giacomo Puccini with artists who have ventured into the illustrated art of the poster. For the selection, significant ties held by the Maestro with these authors have been identified, simultaneously investigating the poster production of the same. The fourth section of the exhibition includes an exhibition of industrial-themed posters. The selection is based on the close relationships Puccini had with some corporate brands, which testify to an aspect of the composer's 'modernity'. Puccini lived between 1858 and 1924, a time of rapid technological progress: electric light, the automobile, the gramophone were invented. Years characterized by progress and innovation of which the Maestro was a keen observer and passionate consumer. Puccini's relationships with industrial brands are summarized in two categories: those maintained by the composer from Lucca for personal taste and those falling within a perspective of true sponsorship.
