The re-composed space. The collage in the photographic interpretation of eight authors. The re-composed space. The collage in the photographic interpretation of eight authors that collects the works of important photographers who have dedicated their attention to the decomposition of space through collage and photomontage techniques. Although already known since the nineteenth century, it was only in the era of the Historical Avant-gardes with Dadaism, Futurism, and Surrealism that these techniques were recovered in an artistic key that inspired the authors presented here, chosen by curators Barbara Cattaneo, Luigi Erba, and Roberto Mutti for the connection they have established, in different times and ways, with the city of Lecco. What unites them is the desire to go beyond the boundaries of traditional imagery to explore other fascinating horizons, using photography as a means to challenge traditional rules. In particular, it is space that is decomposed into its elements not to erase its meaning but to dialectically recover it in a more conscious unity. Exhibited in the Graphic and Photography room on the second floor of the Palace, the works of the Prague artist Jiří Kolář follow, who reappropriates famous works of art to reevaluate their value using different variations of collage, of Giovanni Ziliani who here demonstrates, by questioning the false objectivity of photography, how mass media can distort the messages imagined by the authors, of Licinio Sacconi creator with his analog and digital collages of a fairy-tale world dominated by surreal and dreamlike atmospheres. Also, Giancarlo Maiocchi/Occhiomagico works in imaginary landscapes dominated by a surrealist vision exemplified here in the images of the covers of the magazine "Domus" (1981-82) in the midst of Neo and Post Modern climate, while Maurizio Galimberti uses photography not to describe reality, but to delicately enter the structure of things poetically, as in the reinterpretation in mosaic compositions of images from great films. Collage characterizes the works of Giulio Ceppi who moves with great freedom in search of a dialogue between chronologically and thematically distant images, creating unusual sequences, and of Giulio Cerocchi who creates a historical path, starting from collages made with scissors and glue, to arrive at those made digitally. Nicolò Quirico, finally, in "Palazzi di parole" finds a new way to interpret architecture by capturing it in portions that he recomposes and then prints on sheets of old books.
