Immagimondo brings Roberto Giangrande's shots to the Viscontea Tower
Empty shapes, suspended in space and time, scatter the Italian landscape like question marks. Airports, bridges, dams, roads, schools, swimming pools, sports facilities, hospitals: twenty shots by photographer Roberto Giangrande tell the story of some of the countless unfinished or completed but never operational Italian infrastructural projects.
This is the exhibition “Incompiuto”, scheduled from October 4 to 19, 2025 at the Viscontea Tower in Lecco as part of the 28th edition of Immagimondo and organized by Les Cultures Aps in collaboration with the City of Lecco and the Urban Museum System of Lecco.
From the hill scattered with villa skeletons in Palermo to the Piedmontese highway that plunges into a field, to the ghostly complex of La Maddalena that will never host the G8: the exhibition focuses on many of those public works never opened due to lack of authorization, bureaucratic loopholes, or excessively high management costs. Often ambitious constructions, signed by internationally renowned architects, and then left to deteriorate in the weather, prey to vandalism, no man's land.
An exhibition that tells the story of an invisible country, emphasizing a topic that is too little debated.
The exhibition will be inaugurated on Friday, October 3 at 6 pm in the conference room of Palazzo delle Paure, in the presence of the author, urban planner Emanuele Garda, and architect Veronica Caprino. Scheduled for 7 pm, at the end of the presentation, is a guided tour.
Immagimondo is realized with the patronage and contribution of Regione Lombardia and with the contribution of City of Lecco, City of Civate, City of Mandello del Lario, City of Galbiate, Cariplo Foundation, Confcommercio Lecco. The sponsors of this edition are Howden, Acinque, Lito2000, Photosì, Fotorota Studio, and Zamberlan.The exhibition will be set up until October 19, 2025, with the following opening hours: Thursday 10-13, Friday and Saturday 14-18, Sunday 10-18. Admission is free.
