The Naval Technical Museum of the Italian Navy is located on the seafront of the city of La Spezia. The Museum of La Spezia is considered the most important among the naval museums in all of Italy. The Museum has been in the military Arsenal since 1958, previously it was located in the mechanical workshops in the military establishment. Its collection houses a collection of scale models of Italian vessels. Among the oldest means are the vessels from the fifteenth to the seventeenth century. The main hall is the central one with the collection of assault vehicles dating back to the First World War. In the adjoining room, artifacts used during the Second World War are exhibited. The underwater weapons room develops the history of the torpedo, starting from the first of 1875 with the various prototypes that were made during the first and second world wars. Finally, the room dedicated to ancient weapons contains two sixteenth-century blunderbusses, two small bombards, a Gatling gun and a Turkish cannon from 1521. The photographic documentation of Guglielmo Marconi's first experiments is certainly of great interest. The monumental bronze sculpture of Costanzo Ciano, made by Francesco Messina, is exhibited in the internal garden of the Museum.
