The Splendor Art Museum is located in the historic center of the city of Giulianova, in the province of Teramo. The Museum is located inside the complex of the Sanctuary of the Madonna dello Splendore since 1997. The Museum collects a very rich collection that includes paintings and sculptures from the thirteenth century to the contemporary era. The collection is arranged on three floors of the complex and each floor houses a different section. The first floor is considered a deposit open to the public, as it houses the “Art Collection of the Capuchin Friars of Abruzzo”. The works that suffered damage during the 2009 earthquake in L'Aquila are now preserved here. Among the most important artists in this collection are: Giacinto Brandi, Carl Ruthart, Jusepe de Ribera, Giulio Cesare Bedeschini and Pompeo Cesura. The second floor houses the permanent collection consisting of paintings, graphics and sculptures of the caliber of Francesco Messina, Aligi Sassu, Georges Rouault, Simon Benetton and Mimmo Paladino. Finally, the third floor is used for concerts, conferences, book presentations, events and temporary exhibitions.
