Claude Monet at Palazzo Ducale in Genoa , from 11 February on display with the masterpieces of the Musée Marmottan in Paris. Claude Monet is undoubtedly one of the most loved painters among the Impressionists and most appreciated by the general public.
The exhibition itinerary of the exhibition at Palazzo Ducale Claude Monet, Masterpieces from the Musée Marmottan in Paris in Genoa , organized in chronological order, presents over fifty works , including the Ninfee (1916-1919) and Le rose (1925-1926), a nucleus of works to which Monet was intimately linked, so much so that he never wanted to put them up for sale and kept them jealously guarded in his home in Giverny. Works that represent all his artistic talent and tell of his brilliant creativity, now preserved at the Musée Marmottan Monet in Paris , the museum that houses the largest group of Monet 's works in the world, the result of the donation made in 1966 by his son Michel . The uniqueness of this exhibition lies in the love and intimacy that emanate from the works on display, set up in a completely new and suggestive way in the Munizioniere room of Palazzo Ducale, a place full of charm that will allow a completely new journey into the world of Monet.
In his canvases of evanescent light, Monet has always combined his love for nature with art and, by making the brush an offshoot of his hand, he created and reproduced gardens wherever he lived. Although he spent much of his time in Paris and traveled extensively in France and abroad, Monet preferred the countryside and lived for more than fifty years along the Seine, increasing his interest in gardening , for the flower beds that cheered the his first houses in Argenteuil and for his magnificent gardens in Giverny, which became a feast for the eyes, a relaxing place to contemplate nature and a source of inspiration. Just Giverny, his home after 1883, can be considered as the place of awareness and rebirth for the artist himself; a sequence of new elements dictated by a brilliant formal, geographical and stylistic research innovation that led him to become more and more interested in subjects impregnated with new lyric and bright colors.
The exhibition at Palazzo Ducale Claude Monet, Masterpieces from the Musée Marmottan in Paris in Genoa , curated by Marianne Mathieu, art historian and scientific director of the Musée Marmottan Monet, is divided into seven sections and presents all the salient themes of Impressionism and Monet's artistic research on light. From the first works that tell the revolution of painting en plein air, characterized by the small format, to the large rural and urban landscapes. There is the whole world of Monet, made up of full-bodied but delicate brushstrokes, with that light that is sometimes dim and sometimes blinding. There are the verdant weeping willows, the dreamlike rose alleys, the Japanese bridges and the monumental water lilies, the wisteria with evanescent colors. Nature, portrayed in its most elusive moment.
