Palazzo Ducale presents the exhibition "Twenties in Italy. The age of uncertainty" from 5 October 2019 to 1 March 2020.
A path that winds through the rooms of the Doge's Apartment with about 100 works and intends to propose a fascinating investigation, focused on the historical, political, social and cultural complexity of the decade and on the impact that its main characters had on aesthetic research of the time, in particular on the pictorial and plastic production.
The twenties represented, in fact, a crucial phase of transition between the trauma of the Great War - which entailed, among other things, the collapse of the certainties and optimism that had pervaded the first decade of the new century - and the world crisis of the following decade. This crisis, heralded by the Wall Street collapse of October 1929 and followed by the progressive affirmation of dictatorial regimes on the international stage, ended with a new even more tragic conflict.
