The exhibition Time in process. Relationships, measurements, connections highlights Giovanni Campus's latest challenging project, which began at the end of 2020. The practice of drawing has always accompanied Campus's theoretical, artistic and even everyday life, from his first works in the 1950s to today . In fact, for the artist, drawing is a poetic experiential path that is most often autonomous, capable of bringing planning to the threshold of the limit, in a markedly speculative dimension. The drawing is first of all a place of assessment and alternative questioning, free from more complex, spatial and material purposes. In this last cycle in particular the ink drawing, by its very nature slow and meditative, is a reflection on the global sense of work in its temporality and consequentiality.
In every image, in every sheet there is in fact a before and an after that connect with the artist's research phases from the 1960s to his latest recent works. Campus puts into practice an operation of crossing its own history, of the fundamental passages, of the most complex and even more intimate works to clearly investigate the temporal dimension of making and thinking about art. This focus dedicated to Giovanni Campus was born on the occasion of the recent and important donation of a fund of ten works chosen by the artist for the permanent collection of the MA*GA.
