Villa Carducci Pandolfini is located between Legnania and Soffiano on the outskirts of Florence .
The Palazzo, seat of Villa Carducci Pandolfini , is important for the cycle of frescoes inside it, made by Andrea del Castagno who he painted in 1455.
The fresco represents "Illustrious men and women", but a large part of the cycle was detached in 1847 and subsequently purchased by the Grand Ducal government. In the main hall of the villa the missing drawings of the entire pictorial cycle have been reconstructed.
The frescoes depict nine illustrious characters: Pippo Spano, Farinata degli Uberti, Niccolò Acciaioli, the Sibyl of Cumana, Queen Ester, Queen Tomiri, Dante Alighieri, Francesco Petrarca and Giovanni Boccaccio . All important personalities for the history and literature of Florence or who can be traced back to it.
Other frescoes present narrate the sacred story: oneMadonna and child under the pavilion curtain opened by two angels flanked by Adam and Eve. Other decorations develop along the friezes with garlands, heraldic coats of arms and putti made in 1472.
