Palazzo Strozzi Foundation
A masterpiece of Renaissance architecture in Florence and a dynamic international cultural center, Palazzo Strozzi represents a point of reference on the Italian scene: a platform in which to produce and enjoy art through a rich program of exhibitions and cultural activities. A symbolic place for the life of the Palazzo is the historic Renaissance courtyard, a square open to the city where more than two million people pass through each year and where concerts, performances and installations by contemporary artists are organized.
Founded in 2006 as the first example of a public-private cultural foundation in Italy, the Palazzo Strozzi Foundation has produced and organized over fifty exhibitions ranging from ancient to modern and contemporary art, as evidenced by the collaborations with artists such as Ai Weiwei, Carsten Höller , Marina Abramović or highly successful and critically acclaimed exhibitions such as Pontormo and Rosso Fiorentino or Verrocchio, Leonardo's master.
This lively dialogue between tradition and innovation makes Palazzo Strozzi a unique laboratory where to produce new works of art, make possible important restoration campaigns, new studies and discoveries, stimulate discussion on relevant issues of contemporary society, look for new ways of communicating and making accessible culture and art.
Always experimenting with new opportunities and forms of public involvement, research in the field of education is central, through a rich public program and an articulated offer for young people, schools, families and special audiences, such as people with Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and autism.
Palazzo Strozzi is accessibility, inclusion, experimentation for art and culture: a laboratory for a new idea of contemporaneity in Florence.
