The show

The Ermanno Casoli Foundation presents at the EMF FIME headquarters in Castelfidardo (AN), MARSHY , the permanent site-specific environmental artwork conceived by Eugenio Tibaldi , winner of the 20th edition of the Ermanno Casoli 2022 Award , one of the most important awards in field of contemporary art in Italy .

The President of Elica, Francesco Casoli , declared: “The Ermanno Casoli award has a long tradition and in twenty years it has represented the cultural transformation and of doing business by bringing art and innovation into contact. The MARSHY project expresses these values and renews the ability of the Foundation and its artists to read our time and interpret its main cultural and social phenomena through works that raise awareness and create a common awareness, towards the main challenges of our present and future " .

After a period of residency in the Marche, the artist decided to carry out his project in EMC FIME , a company of the Elica group, in the green area overlooking the Castelfidardo (AN) plants, involving for the first time not only the employees of that headquarters, but all over the world Elica which has a production platform divided into seven sites in Italy, Poland, Mexico and China, with over 3,200 workers.

MARSHY was born from Eugenio Tibaldi's research on the role of waste in macro and micro economies. The defect and the consequent attempt at improvement are seen by the artist as part of the evolution, in a tension aimed at control, efficiency and precision. But if eliminating the defect is the task of economic competition, scientific research, technological development, it may not necessarily be the same as regards the human aspect.

" MARSHY - declares Marcello Smarrelli , artistic director of the Ermanno Casoli Foundation and curator of the Prize - is the metaphor of a place of transformation and change, the reflection of a primordial habitat in which life is generated, but it is also the image of a an expanded and varied community that coexists within a new ecosystem, in which the diversity of the elements represents the most precious value, which opens up to dialogue with the surrounding space through the complexity of its components ".

MARSHY , a term that in English refers to a marshy environment, is a monumental permanent and site-specific installation placed by the artist in a piece of land located between two establishments that were competing until recently and the provincial road Jesina. A border area not useful for production and mobility, yet very evocative, especially if we consider its position between the two plants, the relationship with the adjacent provincial road and the view that from this position can be enjoyed over the historic center of Castelfidardo .
