Also called the "Versailles of Thuringia", Molsdorf Castle is a Baroque castle in Erfurt. In 1733 the palace became the property of the imperial count Gustav Adolf von Gotter. This was the moment when the castle reached its heyday: true to his motto "Vive la joie" (Long live joy), the count made the house one of the best addresses for aristocratic society in Thuringia. Von Gotter gave it the baroque aspect that we still see today, starting a large project of pictorial decoration and stucco in the interiors and also creating a vast garden on the French model, decorated with numerous sculptures. The visit to the castle provides information on the aristocratic lifestyle of the 18th century. The rooms are striking, such as the ballroom with 33 portraits of noble friends and patrons, the "silver room": a room for women only, a large red room for receptions and a hunting room.
Events such as concerts and conferences are also organized in the castle.
