The People's Story Museum, located at 163 Canongate, along the Royal Mile, is dedicated to the history of Edinburgh's working class from the 18th century to the present day. Housed in the historic Canongate Tolbooth, a building that served as a town hall and prison, the museum offers a unique insight into the daily life of the city's inhabitants.
The exhibitions include life-size wax figures recreating typical environments of the time, such as a World War I kitchen, a tea room, and a prison cell. Original objects, photographs, and personal stories are also on display, narrating the life experiences, work, and leisure of Edinburgh residents.
