Located at the historic Wester Kittochside farm, between East Kilbride and Glasgow, the National Museum of Rural Life combines a museum, historic farm, and agricultural landscape in over 24 hectares immersed in the Scottish countryside.

The museum offers a fascinating journey through 300 years of rural history: from traditional agricultural life to mechanical innovations. The exhibition galleries showcase agricultural tools, animal models, domestic culture, toys and clothing, as well as the richest collection of tractors and combine harvesters in Scotland and the world's oldest working threshing mill.

The adjacent working farm hosts typical livestock animals, such as Clydesdale horses, Ayrshire and Aberdeen Angus cattle, Tamworth pigs, sheep, and chickens. Visitors can take a tractor ride, watch the Ayrshire milking at 3:00 pm, discover the young animals in the enclosure, and visit the Georgian Reid family home, furnished as it was in the 1950s.

The center offers activities for families, themed agriculture and nature workshops, interactive days like Tractor Tots for the little ones, and tactile trails. With paths, playgrounds, and picnic areas, it is a perfect option for a half-day or full-day excursion for visitors of all ages.
