The Espacio Torner is an exhibition space and museum dedicated to Gustavo Torner, a Spanish artist originally from Cuenca. The museum is housed in the late Gothic church of the former Dominican convent, in the center of an extraordinary landscape and next to the Parador Nacional de Turismo. The Espacio Torner certainly presents itself as a space of great austerity. Furthermore, together with the works chosen and arranged by the artist himself, a unitary and expressive whole is created. Initially ceded by the Bishopric of Cuenca to the Ministry of Culture, architects Ángela García de Paredes and Ignacio García Pedrosa were entrusted with its restoration in 2004. The building was then sold to the Torner Foundation, opening to the public as Espacio Torner in 2005. L the following year he received the 2006 Europa Nostra Awards Special Mention. Forty important works by Gustavo Torner are exhibited here; half of which donated by the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid, while the deposit of about six hundred pieces donated by the author.
