The Museum of Paleontology of Catiglia houses a nucleus of finds made up of funds from paleontological interventions in the sites of Cuenca de Las Hoyas (Lower Cretaceous of La Cierva) and Lo Hueco (Upper Cretaceous of Fuentes), although the rest of the paleontological deposits owned of Castilla- Municipal Council of La Mancha.

Currently the collection consists of remains from deposits that tell a good 550 million years of the earth's history. Particular attention is paid to the Paleozoic records of Toledo and Ciudad Real, Mesozoic records of Guadalajara and Cuenca and Cenozoic documents from all over the region.

The collection defined as Las Hoyas includes more than 20,000 specimens representing about 130 genera of organisms from 125 million years ago, while that of Lo Hueco is made up of over 12,000 specimens of organisms from about 75 million years ago, including partial ones. found skeletons of some large dinosaurs. The museum, on the other hand, houses a significant nucleus of fossils of plants and animals which constitute the reference of their species (holotypes) from the Triassic, the Lower Cretaceous and the Upper Cretaceous. The collection also preserves the holotypes of activity signs (icnofossils) of various Cretaceous organisms. In recent years, the collection has grown and expanded its diversity due to the deposit of remains of the activities carried out in the Community in recent years in the sites of El Atance, Algora and Poyos (Triassic and Upper Cretaceous of Guadalajara) and Buenache, Uña, Vadillos or Beteta (Lower Cretaceous of Cuenca).
