The Burri Foundation is located in the historic center of Città di Castello, the city of birth of Alberto Burri. Burri was one of the most important exponents of Arte Povera in Italy and the Foundation's goal is to pay tribute to him. The Foundation was established in 1978 by the same Maestro Alberto Burri. Currently it develops in two venues: Albizzini Palazzo and the former tobacco drying. The former tobacco drying were inaugurated in 1990 and are located on the outskirts of Città di Castello. The former tobacco drying are an example of recovery of industrial architecture. Alberto Burri had inspected the factory and had imagined as a place suitable for his creations. Here are 128 works that correspond to its latest achievements between 1974 and 1993. Burri perfectly combines its work with the potential of this exhibition space. The exhibited works focus solely on a single material: cellotex, a wooden dough used as a support for his works. Here, they hold conferences of modern and contemporary art in collaboration with national and international artists.
