The Municipality of Brescia , the Brescia Musei Foundation and the Peace Festival present for the first time in Italy the personal exhibition of the Russian dissident artist Victoria Lomasko . The Victoria Lomasko exhibition. The Last Soviet Artist, curated by Elettra Stamboulis, will be held from Saturday 12 November 2022 until Sunday 8 January 2023 in the exhibition spaces of the Museum of Santa Giulia in Brescia .

The exhibition, presented as part of the Brescia Peace Festival, represents the third act of the research undertaken by Fondazione Brescia Musei with the curatorship of Elettra Stamboulis in 2019 with the exhibition by Zehra Doğan , We will also have better days. Works from Turkish prisons, and continued with that of Badiucao in 2021, China is not close. Works by a dissident artist.

The exhibition project intends to present a vast solo exhibition of the Russian artist with a path designed specifically for the spaces in Brescia, where Lomasko will spend a period in residence for the creation of site-specific works, dedicated to what he is experiencing and observing in recent months. Lomasko's artistic research allows us to reconstruct in a meticulous way the social and political history of Russia from 2011 to today: from the anti-Putin demonstrations that the artist drew live with an original and immediately recognizable trait, to the representations of "deep Russia" , that of the forgotten and marginal, who have always been his favorite subjects.

Lomasko was born in Serpukhov, 99 km south of Moscow, in 1978. Her father, a metalworker from this town entirely dedicated to industrial production, acted as a provocative artist in secret, and perhaps this family tradition led her to operate. always with a strongly committed and unconventional gaze.
