From 3 October to 16 March 2025
From October 3, 2024 to February 28, 2025, the rooms of Palazzo Pallavicini will host for the first time ever in Bologna an exhibition dedicated to Antonio Ligabue, a great Italian expressionist painter (Zurich, December 12, 1899 - Gualtieri, May 27, 1965). Organized and realized by Chiara Campagnoli, Deborah Petroni and Rubens Fogacci of Pallavicini s.r.l., together with the Artistic Direction and curation of WeAreBeside, production in collaboration with SM.Art and sponsored by the Augusto Agosta Tota Foundation for Antonio Ligabue, with texts by Francesca Bogliolo.
The exhibition, divided into 8 rooms, will tell with over 60 paintings, 10 sculptures, and 10 drawings the fascinating story of this artist with a tormented history. Art for Ligabue has always been an innate need that helped him endure the difficulties and pains of life. This is especially evident in the power of his paintings that still strike today, moving and deeply affecting. The exhibition presents the art of this visionary genius, always evolving, his passionate research with which he knew how to invent and renew his works using violent but harmonious colors, in their compelling emotional suggestion, proposing a popular and refined iconography.
