The Lapworth Museum of Geology is the geological museum managed by the University of Birmingham. It is located south of the English city of the same name. The museum, whose origins date back to 1880, is named after the geologist Charles Lapworth. He was a prominent figure in the nineteenth century in the field of geology and became the first professor of the subject at the University of Birmingham.

The museum houses the latter's collection and its galleries are designed to accommodate a large audience, from adults to children.

The exhibits tell the evolution of life and the planet over its five billion years with an eye to how the environment, climate, plants and animals of the English Midlands region, where Birmingham is located, have changed in time.

The museum's collection includes more than 250,000 artifacts: fossils, rocks, minerals, geographic maps, scientific materials and even specimens of zoology plus an important archive documenting key scientific discoveries and historical geologists.

Among the 12,000 minerals come from all over the world and among them are particularly valuable examples of rocks from mining areas

In 2017, the Lapworth was one of five British museums selected for the Art Fund Museum of the Year Award.
