The Edvard Grieg Museum - Troldhaugen, located at Troldhaugveien 65, in the paradisiacal district of Paradis in Bergen, is the historic residence of Edvard Grieg and his wife Nina, conceived as a living museum of his life and works.
The museum visit includes: the nineteenth-century villa (1885), perfectly preserved with original furnishings and the 1892 Steinway grand piano, still used for intimate salon-style concerts. The composer's hut (Komponisthytten), immersed in the silence of the garden on Lake Nordåsvannet, where Grieg composed many of his most famous works.
The permanent exhibition, inside the modern visitor center (inaugurated in 1995), with personal objects, photos, manuscripts, audio-visual effects "audio shower" and souvenirs. The evocative Troldsalen, concert hall built in 1985 for chamber music (up to 200 seats), with excellent acoustics and a view of the lake and the composer's hut.
