The Guttuso Museum is located in Bagheria on the outskirts of the city, in the province of Palermo. The museum, inaugurated in 1973, is located inside the Villa Cattolica and houses a rich collection of works donated by Renato Guttuso. Guttuso was an important artist of Italian neorealism, born in the city of Bagheria. The works of Guttuso in the collection range from sculptures to paintings, from engravings to drawings and start from the early 1930s until his maturity. The Museum also exhibits works by other artists of the twentieth century, such as: Mario Schifano, Silvestre Cuffaro, Domenico Quattrociocchi, Pina Calì, Mimmo Pintacuda, Onofrio Tomaselli and Giuseppe Tornatore. Inside the museum it is also possible to admire a small ethnographic section in which there are Sicilian carts, according to the Palermo tradition. In the back of the museum is the tomb of the artist Guttuso. Since 2000, the museum spaces have hosted a theater workshop and two painting workshops open to schools and families for educational workshops.
