Description

Sunk within the first half of the 1st century BC. AD, has been identified as a pleasure boat. The structure, in holm oak and pine, with an insert in the bow of oak wood, has been preserved in an extraordinary way: the benches on which the rowers sat and a tablet nailed on one of the benches that shows, engraved on the wood, the five letters that make up the word ALK (E) DO. Gabbiano, in fact, translated from Latin, is the name that identifies the ship. During the excavation phase, the traces of red and white, the colors with which the boat must have been painted, were still clearly visible on the external sides.
