Description

The necropolis of Mètauros provided important data on the trade that involved the area between the Strait and the southern Tyrrhenian in the Archaic period. In particular, the transport amphorae, reused as burials and found in the necropolis, which give us an indication of the commercial role of Mètauros. Punic transport amphora VI-V BC (of Carthaginian production); Phoenician amphora VI B.C. - (similar type to those found in the necropolis of Milazzo); Etruscan transport amphora, with digital impression on one of the handles VI B.C.
