Le Muséum des sciences naturelles d'Angers is a natural history and science museum. Inaugurated in 1801, it houses a collection of over 530,000 specimens, including 3000 naturalized birds, 50,000 fossils, 80,000 insects and 350,000 different species of herbs, as well as hundreds of skeletons and minerals, technical tools and documents. The main mission of the museum is conservation, dissemination of knowledge and scientific research. Within the collection, the oldest find is that of a trilobite fossil from about 500 million years ago.
